Lowest Measured Phase Noise for a 10GHz OEwaves, as part of the aPROPOS government contract for DARPA, managed by the Army Research Laboratory, is proud to announce that the lowest phase noise for a 10GHz Opto-Electronic Oscillator (OEO) ever achieved. This measurement performed at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) surpassed all other previous OEO phase noise measurements. The phase noise of this bench-top unit at 100Hz, 1000Hz, and 10,000Hz is the best ever reported for a 10GHz OEO -- measuring -163dBc/Hz at 10kHz offset.

Future phases of this contract work involve addressing higher frequencies, tunability, and size reduction. Phase noise and other performance parameters will be consistent with requirements for future space, ground, and shipboard-based radar applications and signal intelligence systems.
