Alex Maleki

Alex Maleki serves as President of OEwaves, where he leads the company’s commercial and strategic initiatives. Prior to joining OEwaves in 2025, Alex focused on bringing advanced photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technologies to market as CEO of Comet Communication Systems. Earlier in his career, Alex was a Managing Director at Mandala Space Systems and Idealab, where he played a key role in fundraising, executive recruiting, and advising founders on strategy and commercialization. He began his career in venture-backed enterprise software and services startups, holding senior leadership roles at Net Effect and Mobile Automation, both of which were successfully acquired. Alex holds a BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a JD from Southwestern University. He currently serves on the boards of OEwaves and Xosphere, an Idealab company.
