“Stability and Noise Measurement Analysis of WGM Self-Injection Locked Lasers”

Lasers with exceptionally long coherence lengths and ultra-low frequency and phase noise are enabling critical advancements in coherent communications, lidar, optical sensing, quantum technologies, and precision metrology. In this session, Danny Fung will explore how high-Q whispering gallery mode (WGM) self-injection locked, single-frequency CW lasers deliver the performance required for these demanding applications.

The presentation will cover key parameters and behaviors including phase and frequency noise, relative intensity noise, intrinsic and effective linewidths, and both short- and long-term stability. Attendees will also gain insight into modulation response, wavelength range, and the measurement techniques used to evaluate and optimize these advanced laser systems.
