OEwaves, Inc., a leader in innovative photonic and electro-optics products and solutions, today announced the launch of the HI-Q® Laser Locking System (OE5000), a simple and powerful solution for phase locking two or more lasers with frequency differences up to 100 GHz.
In typical systems, phase locking requires separate circuitry and components, adding complexity, cost, and bulk. The OE5000 system simplifies this process by receiving input from each laser and generating an output signal to automatically and rapidly control one laser, keeping it locked to a source or reference laser. With a fiber input carrying light from each laser and an electrical output to actuate the lock, the OE5000 enables offset locking of two individual lasers separated in frequency by as much as 50 GHz. The programmable frequency interval is controlled through a USB connection from the user’s computer.
The system supports any pair of lasers within the 1300–1600 nm wavelength range, with options available for other wavelengths. It is particularly well suited for use with OEwaves’ ultra-narrow linewidth lasers, providing a turnkey solution for applications requiring high spectral purity and frequency stability.
This capability is critical for a variety of advanced applications, including coherent communications, quantum sensors, photonic generation of RF signals, gas sensing, and metrology.
